Eilean Donan Castle

Around 60 miles west of our premium Scottish getaway properties, you’ll find Eilean Donan Castle. This 13th Century is located on a small tidal island where three sea lochs, Loch Duich, Loch Long, and Loch Alsh, meet.

This picturesque castle is very popular with weddings and regularly features in film, television and on shortbread tins!

The castle has a lot of history behind it; after being involved in the Jacobite uprising and following many restorations, the castle that is enjoyed by many today incorporates many of the original ruins, making you visit an exciting and interesting one for all ages.

Highland Folk Museum

If you consider yourself quite the history buff, why not take a trip to Britain’s first open air museum! Located within the Cairngorms National Park, the Highland Folk Museum offers visitors an insight into how the Highland people of 1700s-1950s lived and worked.

With displays of over 30 historical buildings, all decorated and furnished appropriate to the time they represent, the museum is situated amidst some of Scotland’s stunning scenery making it a well-rounded educational day out during your cultural Scottish getaway.

Loch Ness Exhibition Centre

One of Scotland’s most famous Loch’s resides right on our doorstep. If you’re keen to learn more about the area you’re staying in during your stay in our holiday cottages located at the foot of Loch Ness, a 30-minute drive around the Loch will take you to the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre.

Here you’ll be able to view some of the equipment used to explore Loch Ness as well as get clued up on the rumours, hoaxes and truths about the mysterious Loch Ness monster.

There are also a café and gift shops, and during summer there’s opportunity to take a boat ride into the Loch allowing you to discover the waters for yourself.

Culloden Battlefield

The Culloden Battlefield was the site of the final Jacobite Rising, which is located just an hour drive from The Highland Club.

This is one to visit if you’re interested in warfare; the visitor centre is home to various historical artefacts, weapons and informational displays, allowing you to gain an insight into how just an hour-long battle changed life in the Highlands completely.

Now cared for by the National Trust, Scotland, a visit to the Culloden Visitor Centre will be a moving experience and an opportunity to learn something new about Sottish history.
