There is exciting news for visitors to Loch Ness, with plans to transform the historic Dores Inn and surrounding Dores Beach area moving forward.

WildLand’s proposals aim to sensitively renovate the much-loved Dores Inn while improving the wider visitor experience at this beautiful spot on the shores of Loch Ness. The plans include a bakery, café and shop, improved toilet facilities and expanded parking, while maintaining public access to Dores Beach and the surrounding woodland. The project forms part of WildLand’s wider work in the area, which includes the nearby Aldourie Castle and Estate. 

Dores is already one of our favourite places to recommend to guests staying at The Highland Club, Fort Augustus. Situated at the northern end of Loch Ness, it’s a wonderful stopping point when exploring the loch, Inverness and the Scottish Highlands.

The redevelopment should make Dores an even more attractive destination for visitors looking for places to visit around Loch Ness and, of course, Dores Beach remains one of the most atmospheric places from which to keep an eye out for Nessie!
