Could Nessie be having a particularly active year? Loch Ness Monster sightings in 2026 have certainly given visitors plenty to talk about.

The Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register currently lists 15 reported in-person sightings at Loch Ness during 2026, with reports coming from visitors from around the world. Separate webcam records include another two unexplained sightings captured remotely. Reports have come from locations around the loch, including Fort Augustus, Urquhart Castle and the northern end of Loch Ness. 

One August report was particularly close to home for Highland Club Direct guests: a visitor from Malta reported seeing what he described as a very large eel-like creature moving in and out of the water near Fort Augustus for around 15 minutes. As ever, these are reported unexplained sightings rather than proof of the Loch Ness Monster—but that’s all part of the enduring mystery.
